Michigan Environmental Council applauds Consumers Energy sustainability plan released today

Michigan Environmental Council praised the clean energy goals set by Consumers Energy in their sustainability plan released today.

"An 80 percent reduction in carbon emissions is exactly the kind of forward-thinking goal we need to create a clean energy future for Michigan," said Michigan Environmental Council President Chris Kolb.

"It puts Consumers Energy on a faster track to renewable energy which will decrease air pollution, create clean energy jobs, and lower energy bills."

"We appreciated the opportunity to provide input on their sustainability goals last fall and look forward to partnering with them to make these goals a reality."

The sustainability plan includes goals to save water, reduce waste to landfills and protect habitat in Michigan.
