Nate Mathewson

Communications Intern

[email protected]

Nate tells the stories of the Environmental Council’s diverse members and parlays them into educational, informational and entertaining communications. He amplifies the voices of others with the purpose of helping to boost scientific literacy and rallying behind more green policies. As a communications intern, he hopes to discover his niche in the environmental communication community.

A technical and professional communication major and biology minor, Nate will graduate with a bachelor of science from Ferris State University in May 2024. He hopes to use his degree to make environmental information more understandable for everyone.

Nate grew up in Pinckney and South Lyon, hiking local areas with friends and exploring his environment. That exploration stuck with him in his move to Big Rapids for college, where he has spent the last several years getting his degree, working for the school newspaper and finding peace in the forests flanking the Muskegon River.

When not in class or on the clock, Nate loves to watch and play sports, bird watch, go on road trips and spend time with his partner, Kyla, his friends and his family. Every activity, of course, accompanied by music.
