Statement on passing of Representative Isaac Robinson

“Man, Isaac was crazy,” said MEC CEO Conan Smith, who knew Representative Robinson for more than two decades. “He was just crazy for justice.” MEC is so saddened to learn of the tragic death of State Representative Isaac Robinson yesterday. Rep. Robinson was a powerful advocate for his constituents. His passion for doing the right thing on behalf of his community -- the residents of the City of Detroit -- was truly inspiring. 

He was a person of great integrity, humor and charm.  Isaac was also a tremendously generous person and a personal friend to MEC.  

“You might try real hard to avoid Isaac Robinson when he was inspired by a cause. Especially if you knew he wanted something and you didn’t want to give it over,” said Smith. "He had no compunction about calling you out loudly in a public place or even an empty hallway. He needed your attention, man, and he needed you to take some action! Michigan lost a great advocate in Isaac Robinson, one who was really just blooming into his force.”
