Katharine C. Merritt
Chief Operating Officer
Katharine supports her MEC team members by building and enhancing the nonprofit’s processes and strategies. That, in turn, helps the larger environmental movement.
The Okemos resident joined in March 2020, having previously worked at Michigan Economic Development Corporation. There, Katharine supported vibrant, sustainable communities to make Michigan the best place to live, work, and play.
Bolstering her credentials are a bachelor’s degree in economics from University of Georgia, a masters in urban planning from Michigan State University, and a certification in economic development finance.
Katharine, an East Lansing native, lives by the “live, work, play” mission of her former employer. She loves visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes and Michigan’s four adjacent Great Lakes with husband Marc; daughters Wynter and Arden; and dogs Henry, Charlie, and Maggie.
When she is at home Katharine, volunteers with Sparrow Health System’s pediatric intensive care unit and with Stepping Stones Montessori School. She enjoys yoga, playing with her children, and cooking, especially if Michigan maple syrup is involved.
