Making Lake Life Great - Capitol Connection webinar

Watch live or later.

It's summer relaxation time! For many of us, that means a trip to one of Michigan's 11,000 inland lakes. St. Clair, Torch, Gull, Silver, Reeds—the list goes on.

Unfortunately, an influx of human habitation and recreation during the summer season can cause problems for lakes. So, too, can yearlong residences and businesses. Pollution from septic systems and lawn chemicals can lower water quality needed for healthy ecosystems. Invasive species can threaten native flora and fauna. And reckless boat wakes can disrupt habitats.

Melissa DeSimone, executives director of the Michigan Lakes & Streams AssociationFortunately, there are actions individuals, lake association members, and government leaders can take in concert together. Sharing and advocating for these actions is a key role Melissa DeSimone takes on as executive director of the Michigan Lakes & Streams Association.

Whether you're taking a day trip to the beach, renting a lakefront cottage for the week, or wanting to advocate to Michigan lawmakers, the problems and solutions around inland lakes that Melissa will discuss in our next Capitol Connection webinar are for you.
