Rick Bunch joined MEC’s board in 2011. He is part of its development, finance and audit, and investment committees. 

As executive director of the Michigan Municipal Association for Utility Issues, Bunch seeks to improve local governments’ utility services, costs and regulatory processes through technical support and a collective voice. He is also secretary for Soulardarity, a Highland Park-based equitable energy group, and a board member for Public Interest Research Group. 

Bunch previously was executive director of Southeast Michigan Regional Energy Office, which helped area municipalities identify, finance and implement clean energy projects. The Ann Arbor resident also held roles in these sustainable enterprise education and research organizations: Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan, The Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, Bainbridge Graduate Institute and World Resources Institute.

Bolstering Bunch’s experiences are a bachelor's degree in political science from Yale University and a masters of business management in environmental management at the University of Washington.
