Chair, member group representative

Lisa Brush joined MEC’s board in 2012. She now serves as its chair, making her part of the board’s ad hoc bylaws review, development, executive, finance and audit, nominating, Petoskey Prize and policy and strategy committees. She was instrumental in transitioning MEC into new leadership after the departure of its four senior staff.

Brush founder and director of Stewardship Network, an MEC member group. Through organizational management, grants management, communications and training, Bunch guides the Ann Arbor-based nonprofit as it helps people identify community and conservation needs and then provides support.

The Ann Arbor resident also serves in other leadership capacities. Brush is board president of SnowBuddy, which works to make sidewalks accessible year-round.

She founded Ann Arbor Ultimate, an ultimate frisbee organization. She previously chaired the Michigan Forest Stewardship Advisory Committee. And she previously was a youth soccer coach.

Brush’s love of the outdoors extends past her ultimate frisbee and soccer endeavors. She loves to run at Leelanau State Park and sail both Grand Traverse Bay and Lake Michigan.

All of Brush’s experiences are bolstered by a bachelor’s degree in science in society from Wesleyan University and a masters degree from the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources and Environment.
