Honorees
Helen & William Milliken Distinguished Service Award Winner
Bill Rustem has been a visionary leader for more than four decades. A conservation champion in state politics and a key strategist to two governors, he was the driving force behind several landmark programs that established Michigan as a leader in protecting natural resources and people.
Petoskey Prize for Environmental Leadership Winner
Gary Rayburn is a take-charge activist who decided to fight nutrient pollution poisoning the Pine River. In less than five years, he formed a grassroots organization, linked with influential local and state leaders and turned it into a powerful protector of the waterway.
Keynote Speaker
Angelou Ezeilo is a visionary activist and author who has devoted her career to bettering the environmental movement, pushing its organizations to embrace inclusivity, equity and diversity and connecting underrepresented youths with outdoor experiences and careers.
Celebrating our 40th anniversary as the most trusted environmental voice in the State Capitol, MEC leads a coalition of more than 65 organizations to achieve positive change through public policy solutions.
