Please join us in honoring two environmental champions!
Joan Rose
Michigan State University microbiologist Joan Rose is the 2018 recipient of the Helen and William Milliken Distinguished Service Award. A global water science expert, Dr. Rose has worked tirelessly to improve water quality. Over a 30-year career, she has investigated and raised awareness of water-quality issues throughout Michigan, across the nation, and around the world. Her pioneering leadership has greatly advanced our understanding of water quality, waterborne pathogens, and measures to protect public health.
Nancy Warren
Nancy Warren is the 2018 recipient of the Petoskey Prize for Environmental Leadership. Ms. Warren epitomizes grassroots environmental advocacy. Mixing research, conviction and diplomacy, she has devoted her life to protecting the special features of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. This passion has prompted her to ardently and successfully champion several regional causes over the past decades involving its forest, waters, habitat and wildlife.
