MEC takes public transit dialogue, ideas on the road across the state

The Michigan Environmental Council is taking public transit dialogue on the road. The Council’s “Transit Roadshows” are scheduled throughout the spring and summer, providing a forum to iron out plans for reliable transit in the state.

State and local officials, transit operators, business leaders, advocates and others gather to brainstorm around issues including existing transit initiatives, legislative activity and federal policy. The first event took place in February in Lansing. Others include Flint, Saginaw/Bay City, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Jackson, Ann Arbor, Traverse City and Detroit.

Transit is crucial to stimulating the state’s moribund economy, saving commuters time and money, and reducing pollution and road congestion.

For information on the roadshows, contact MEC Deputy Policy Director Tim Fischer at 517-487-3606 ext. 12.
