MEC’s Rory Neuner tabbed as one of ten professionals to watch over next decade

Lansing Chamber of Commerce takes note of her work, commitment
We’re not the only ones keeping an eye on Michigan Environmental Council Urban Policy Specialist Rory Neuner.

The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce named Neuner one of its “Ten over the Next Ten” award recipients—given to ten young Lansing area professionals expected to contribute significantly to the community over the next decade.

The winners were judged based on their professional achievement, community involvement and personal success. Applicants were required to be 35-years-old or younger and professionally centered in the tri-county area (Ingham, Eaton, Clinton) and with a minimum of two years working in the mid-Michigan community.

“These ten professionals will make a tremendous impact on the greater Lansing area throughout their careers,” said Tim Daman, LRCC President and CEO. “They are truly the ones to watch.”

MEC President Chris Kolb said it’s no surprise Neuner, who lives in Lansing, was recognized by the Chamber.

“Rory not only works tirelessly to promote smart public policies at the national, state and local levels during the workday, but spends countless of her free hours volunteering, organizing and rallying to make her community a better place. “She is a tremendous asset to our organization and to her neighborhood and community.”

Neuner joined the Michigan Environmental Council in 2008. She works on promoting sustainable urbanism and strategic economic development investments.

Neuner is a Yale University graduate with a master’s degree from the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy. She also spent a year studying city planning at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design.

Prior to joining MEC, Neuner worked as a graduate fellow at the City of Chicago Mayor’s Office, interned with Chicago Metropolis 2020, and worked at the online environmental magazine Grist.
